Maggie Leslie
Learning the scriptures and committing them to memory is something I always would have claimed to care about. Of course, things I claim to care about often go neglected or ignored completely. This had been the case with learning bible verses, though admittedly I would have liked to care about it. And while this probably had more to do with the fact that I frequently deal with an idol called Not Looking Stupid, I knew that learning the scriptures was helpful not only for successful scholarly discussion, but also for the ousting and blowing up of idols like N.L.S.
This is why one of the things I was most excited about upon joining RUF Core Group was the required memorization of scripture. As I learned the verses, I understood more fully the bible’s power and purpose to transform the dispositions of our hearts and push us to Christ. And since I wanted not only to remember the verses, but also to not forget them, I hung some stuff on my wall that I figured would lessen their propensity for being forgotten.

Maggie Leslie will be a composition junior in the music department at the University of Oklahoma in the fall 2009. She's from Dallas, Texas, and grew up at Metrocrest PCA. Maggie plays just about any instrument, though she specializes in the piano, organ and mandolin. If you are lucky enough to be invited over to dinner with her and her roommate Becky, she'll talk to you about total depravity and the gospel of grace, two subjects she knows quite a bit about.
