Welcome to ECU's RUF. RUF is a Christ-Centered community that serves the tired, the skeptical, and the committed at ECU. It is a group where people can learn, grow, and struggle to know who Jesus is and what it means to follow Him.

Tom Hart

Tom Hart was born and raised in Albany, Georgia. While studying at the University of Georgia, he got involved with RUF, where he encountered Jesus for the first time. He also met his wife, Chané, in history class, who is originally from South Africa but grew up in Greenville, South Carolina. After college, Tom served as an RUF intern at Auburn University from 2008 to 2011, where he developed a deep love for college ministry. Having spent three years in the Midwest while Tom earned a Master’s of Divinity from Covenant Seminary, the Harts were thrilled to move back to the South, where boiled peanuts and sweet tea are easier to come by. Tom and Chané spend most of their free time thoroughly enjoying their three children, Simon (born in 2012), Ragan (born in 2014), and Bauer (born 2016).

Joanna Disch

Joanna was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri with three older brothers and lots of pets. She then moved to Waco, TX to study Accounting and Leadership at Baylor University. In her free time she’s usually running, walking her dog (Braxton), or thrift shopping!

RUF fundamentally shifted her view of the Gospel and how she interacts with it. She decided to become an intern because of the profound effect this ministry had on her spiritual life. She developed a deep sense of dependance on God in light of a chaotic life. Baylor RUF gave her a second family that showed her abundant grace and love and in return she hopes to do that for her students at ECU.
