RUF at Samford is a community of students learning together how God's grace transforms us to love God and love our neighbors.
Walt grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. In 2007, he enrolled at The University of Mississippi where he studied political science and English. After graduating, he worked for a non-profit microfinance firm in the Philippines and returned to Birmingham to begin seminary at Beeson Divinity School. His most notable accomplishment while in seminary was finding and marrying his wife Rachel. Rachel graduated from Auburn with a bachelor’s degree in secondary science education. She taught science for three years and currently works in youth ministry at Covenant Presbyterian Church.
Erin is from all over the southern states and in year 2000 landed in Birmingham, AL where her family has resided for almost 20 years. Erin graduated from the University of Alabama in 2008 and immediately started her 3.5 years in the RUF Internship on the campus of Emory University in Atlanta, GA. She grew a heart for ministry during that time and wanted to continue in her gifting where she then moved to Philadelphia for training in counseling. Most recently, she comes from Fayetteville, AR serving on staff at Christ Community Church. Throughout her time in ministry, she has grown to see her weakness made strong because of her union with Christ. God has been near and has provided for her abundantly. Erin loves spending time with friends and family, loves the outdoors (and any bodies of water), and playing volleyball. She is beyond excited and privileged to serve students at Samford.
Clare is from Dallas, Texas and is a recent graduate from the University of Arkansas with a communications degree. While at Arkansas Clare found community at RUF, joining the leadership team her junior year. It was there that she began to understand the transforming love of Jesus Christ and her need of the gospel. Clare loved how RUF continually spoke the truth into her life revealing that Jesus paid it all on the cross so that she may live freely in him. On top of that Clare enjoys meeting new people, singing, dancing, and loves road trips.
