Welcome to the RUF Ministry at the University of Minnesota! We are a Gospel-centered, Bible-believing organization of students on the University of Minnesota Minneapolis/St. Paul campus. RUF works alongside students to help them grow in their faith, deepen their understanding of the gospel, and show the love of Jesus to the college campus. We emphasize the truth found in Scripture, Christian community, the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers, and outreach to the lost on campus.
Brandon and Erin Haan have a heart to see college students grow in their faith through an expanding knowledge and love of Jesus Christ. They are passionate about building a Christian community that not only seeks the truth found in God's Word, but that lives out the gospel in all of life. With their two boys, Theo and Everett, they welcome students into their lives and their homes.
Mackenzie grew up in the home of a former RUF Campus Minister, and was acquainted with the ministry before attending the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Once on campus, however, she quickly realized this organization would have a much more personal connection to her life. Throughout her undergraduate years, RUF at Minnesota became family. It offered her a place to ask hard questions and be accepted, flaws and all. As she neared graduation, she began considering the internship as a means to explore various career paths, grow in her spiritual maturity, and walk alongside college students at a pivotal time in their lives.
Mackenzie is interested in volleyball, gardening, and all things music. She is thrilled to be continuing work at the University of Minnesota, and would love to meet for a cup of coffee with anyone interested in what RUF is about!
A native to the Ohio area, David attended the University of Akron, with plans to receive his bachelor’s in biology and quickly move on to medical school. His first semester at Akron, David saw the need for the gospel on campus and became interested in the RUF group, which offered students a community to learn about the gospel and grow in. Once a sophomore, he joined the student leadership ministry team, where he led small groups, met with students, and developed friendships. Throughout the following semesters he was able to see the Lord work on campus, grow the community, and hear a calling toward ministry. Although he still dreams of being a doctor, he is more than excited to share what the Lord has done in his life with those on campus. When he completes the internship he hopes to continue on to medical school and serve in the medical missions field. He enjoys rock climbing, surfing, snowboarding, sailing, and generally anything outdoors.
