Welcome to RUF at UNCW! RUF exists in partnership with the local church to give students a place to grow in their faith, search for answers, and find community. We are a place for the convinced and the unconvinced, the confident and the doubting, the struggling and the seeking.

Come visit large group, explore our weekly community groups, or follow us on social media to learn about our social events. We would love for you to join us, and we look forward to getting to know you!

Sam Kennedy

Sam is a Wilmington local, a UNC-Chapel Hill alumnus, and an M.Div Student at Reformed Theological Seminary. The Kennedys love everything about the UNCW campus-- from the skateboard racks at the dining hall, to the way that flip-flops are considered appropriate attire at the most formal campus events. Sam’s other favorite things are playing guitar, surfing, and sampling the wares of Wilmington’s many coffeeshops.

Sam and Shaunna were married in 2009 in a sunny cove outside Asheville, NC. When she is not working as a pre-school teacher at St. John’s church or wrangling the kids, Shaunna loves baking and exercising her gifts of hospitality. She is also totally down for having people drop in to their home when she least expects it. They have two children, Gus and Hattie, who love UNCW students, and count Sammy the Seahawk as a close personal friend and role model. The Kennedys are excited to be serving with RUF at UNCW!

Lucy Holt Myers

Lucy grew up in Lexington, Kentucky and went to the University of Kentucky. She studied Secondary Social Studies Education and History. Lucy is excited to marry and work alongside of her husband and co-intern, Brad Myers. She cannot wait to live at the beach and get to know UNCW students!!

Brad Myers

Brad grew up in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. He graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in music education, focusing on trombone. He is excited to move to North Carolina and live near the beach. Brad enjoys music, art, reading, sports, cooking, and board games. RUF was a huge means of grace to him at Kentucky and he is excited and thankful to be a part of that continued ministry at UNCW!
