RUF is a community of students learning how to love God, love people, and love Western Carolina University. Regardless of your beliefs or doubts, RUF is a safe place to EXPLORE Christianity and GROW in your understanding of who Jesus is and what it means to follow him. We welcome all, no matter where they are in the process, to be part of our campus ministry.

Andrew grew up in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, but ever since his family moved to Charlotte, NC right after his 13th birthday, he’s called North Carolina “home.” Andrew is a graduate of NC State, and after his college days, interned with RUF at Virginia Tech before returning to Charlotte to attend Reformed Theological Seminary. It was during these RTS days that he met, wooed, and wed his wife, Trish. After finishing seminary, Andrew spent three years as the Pastor of Discipleship at Hilton Head Presbyterian Church before moving to WCU in the summer of 2017.

Andrew and Trish have two daughters, Sophie (1/7/15) and Maggie (12/29/17), and together they enjoy the outdoors, board games, reading, music, making pizza together, and going on adventures.

Kate is from Asheville, NC and graduated from Appalachian State University (Go ‘Neers) with a degree in Recreation Management and minor in Entrepreneurial Studies. She loves anything outdoors, whether it is hiking, running, or sitting by a lake with her dog, Nala. RUF was a huge part of her college experience and she is so excited to get to work with the ministry of RUF just a couple mountains over at Western Carolina.

My name is Cody Duncan. I am from Gilbert, SC where I grew up on Lake Murray with my three brothers. At the College of Charleston, I studied Exercise Science and became really involved in RUF. I’m super excited for the opportunity to be an intern because RUF at CofC has meant so much to me. Not only did my RUF family at CofC teach me about the Bible, but they accepted me despite my flaws and made an effort to really get to know me to help me in my personal walk with Jesus. As an intern, I hope to care for WCU students the same way I’ve been cared for by my campus minister and interns. Lastly, I love pretty much every sport, soccer being my favorite, and I’m also excited to explore the mountainous terrain around Cullowhee.
